1- Definition:

Tutoring is a monitoring and support mission for the student aimed at facilitating their integration into university life and their access to information.. It is intended for 1st year undergraduate students. (L1).

The student who joins the University, whose structures he ignores, operation and teaching methods, may be guided and assisted during their first year by a Tutor Teacher.

The student will be advised by his tutor on the progress of the lessons. (Course, Tutorials and Practical Work) and on the steps he must take with the various structures of the University : The Library, the Rectorate, the Faculties, Student Association Premises, at TWO (Directorate of University Works), Social Security, …etc.

2- The missions:

The missions and activities of a tutor are of 05 main aspects :

1. Informative and administrative,

2. Educational,

3. Technical and methodological,

4. Psychological.

5. Professional

2.1. Informative and administrative aspects

a) Welcome : By discovering the University, the student will be able to find a tutor at his side to guide him and show him the different structures of the University. The tutor mainly explains the system to the student “LMD’’ :

– Training offers,

– Teaching units and subjects,

– The progression,

– Credits and debts,

– Regulatory texts and attendance at lessons.

b) Orientation : The student will be informed mainly about the progress, the functioning and teaching methods at the University.

c) Mediation : The student can be advised by the tutor on the steps to take with the various University services..

2.2. Pedagogical Aspect

It consists of support for learning, the organization of personal work and the construction of the student’s training path. The latter will be made aware of :

– Taking notes during lessons,

– Reviewing your courses and preparing your TDs and TPs,

– La documentation (search and consult works,…).

2.3. Methodological and Technical Aspects

The tutor will help the student to acquire an individual and collective working method (in groups) making the best use of educational tools and supports (Library, Internet, Online courses, …etc.).

2.4. Psychological Aspect

The tutor will help the student to form a clear idea of ​​their future. In this regard, he will benefit from all the listening and support as well as the personalized advice that he will need..

2.5. Professional Appearance

The student will be helped and supported in developing their future project (professional) by facilitating contacts with the professional environment.

3. Organization of Tutoring – Practical arrangements

Student-tutor meetings are planned during the academic year. The topics to be covered during these sessions depend on the nature of the educational activities during the year. Particular importance will be given to the first semester program.

3.1. First Semester

During the first semester the tutor will focus his work on:

– Explanation of the objectives of tutoring and the role of the tutor.

– Presentation of the University and its different structures.

– Development of the work meeting schedule.

– Explanation of the University’s internal regulations.

– Explanation of the LMD system and the organization of undergraduate courses.

– Explanation of evaluation methods (continuous controls and examinations).

– Methodology Sessions: Time management, working method (lesson preparation, TD et TP), …etc.

3.2. Second Semester

At the start of the 2nd semester, the tutor must do:

– Bilan du 1er trimester : Teachings, continuous checks and results (highlight strengths and address weaknesses)

– Explanation of how deliberation juries work (respect for decisions, right to appeal,…etc.).

As the end of the year approaches, the student must become independent. He will know :

– Listen and write your lesson alone.

– Express yourself correctly.

– Fill in the gaps by searching for information.

– Prepare for your semester exams 2 sans assistance.
